- XSPF for open playlists
- The Xiph.org Foundation for making open media available to all
- Annodex for open annotation of all media
- PNG for Portable Network Graphics
- SVG for Scalable Vector Graphics
- Open Document for all kinds of documents
- SMIL for Synchronized Multimedia
